Development of Commercial Plant Tissue Culture Laboratory at NAREI, Guyana by TERI

TERI has signed MoU with NAREI (National Agricultural Research and Extension institute), Ministry of Agriculture Guyana to upgrade and re-activation of commercial plant tissue lab for one million plant production capacity. The construction of the tissue culture laboratory is part of the Sustainable Agricultural Development Project (SADP), funded through by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).

SDG Blueprint for Sustainable Agriculture

Punjab: Pilot Implementation of Direct Benefit Transfer for Electricity (DBTE) to Agriculture

The project aims to address and provide solutions towards three-dimensional interlinked challenge of declining ground water, increasing electricity consumption and rising fiscal burden of power subsidy on agriculture. In order to achieve the said objective, the project intends to help Government of Punjab and Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd (PSPCL) pilot the DBTE scheme in three selected feeders in Punjab and refine the scheme on the basis of the learnings from this pilot for its wider implementation across Punjab.

Developing Nano-Fertilizers and Mycorrhizal Biofertilizers to reduce the dose of chemical fertilizers by 25 to 50 per cent and supplementing the same with these innovative fertilizers. Shell India (Industry Partnership) is providing support for research and field trials on maize and direct seeded rice (DSR) for multiple seasons (Rabi and Kharif). Soil health is also being monitored (e.g. soil organic carbon and microbial population, etc.) in comparison with the recommended dose of fertilizers for developing suitable Package of Practices.

Developing nano-fertilizers and mycorrhizal biofertilizers to reduce the dose of chemical fertilizers by 25 to 50 per cent and supplementing the same with these innovative fertilizers is the need of the hour. Shell India and TERI partnership aims to unveil complex genetic interactions involved in carbon and nitrogen metabolism during symbiotic associations to understand their role in establishing symbiosis, enhancing soil-organic carbon (SOC) and reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from arable land.
