Developing nano-fertilizers and mycorrhizal biofertilizers to reduce the dose of chemical fertilizers by 25 to 50 per cent and supplementing the same with these innovative fertilizers is the need of the hour. Shell India and TERI partnership aims to unveil complex genetic interactions involved in carbon and nitrogen metabolism during symbiotic associations to understand their role in establishing symbiosis, enhancing soil-organic carbon (SOC) and reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from arable land. The outcome from the projects is expected to provide new recommendations for suitable Package of Practices to improve soil health, reduce emission from agriculture while sustainably increasing crop-yield.
