Energy
Energy performance benchmarking
We assist industries in reducing their energy consumption through audits at the plant level. We undertake technology assessments of energy and environmental performance for different industrial sectors and develop or promote energy efficient and environment friendly technological solutions.
Energy efficient and environment-friendly solutions
We develop and promote energy efficient technologies and environment friendly solutions for industries. The main objective is to enable supply chains to reduce fuel consumption, efficient resource utilization and enhance environmental performance.
CSR engagements to provide clean energy solutions
We customize and disseminate clean technologies to facilitate the energy starved population in benefitting from clean and affordable solar lighting solutions. This is done by replacing kerosene/paraffin lanterns with solar lighting devices, thereby facilitating the provision of better illumination, and a kerosene smoke-free indoor environment for women.
Impact evaluation of CSR intiatives
We help prepare impact evaluation reports of the CSR initiatives for communities.
Resources & Sustainable Development
Policy research on the role of resources in national and global sustainable development
We study the economics of natural resource use, and its interface with development, use modelling frameworks and decision support systems for sustainable management of natural resources. We analyse markets (design, regulation, and behaviour of the agents) to suggest policy, structural, institutional, and legislative changes for promoting efficient and competitive markets.
Multidisciplinary research and policy advice
We perform inter-disciplinary policy research using latest science and technology developments for policy makers, regulators, and concerned stakeholders in areas of regulatory reforms in physical infrastructure sectors like energy, transport, water, and others through research, support, capacity building, awareness programmes, and handholding. Our policy advice is aimed at local and global environmental challenges to trade, investment, resource development.
Sustainable Agriculture
Technology for reclaming wastelands
We provide expertise in greening and reclamation of wasteland to turn it into green, productive land. We do this using a beneficial group of micro-organisms known as mycorrhizal fungi. Successful examples of sites reclaimed using this technology include fly ash overburdens, alkali chlor-laden sites, distillery effluent discharge sites, phosphogypsum ponds, coal mines, red mud, saline and arid sites.
Next generation technology to produce high-quality mycorrhiza
Mycorrhiza is a biofertiliser that helps promote plant growth in an environment-friendly manner and provides several benefits during the plant cultivation stages. Our in-vitro mass production technology uses a sterile, contamination-free environment, to commerciallly produce this high-quality mycorrhiza, which is viable, healthy, and genetically pure. Our next generation technology for arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi is suitable for industries and requires less space for maximum recovery of propagules (up to 1000 billion propagules/annum). As part of our service, we provide end-to-end hand holding, upto the commercialisation stage.
Climate Change
Climate change risk assessment
We generate climate projections at global and regional scales and impacts, vulnerability and adaptation assessments in key sectors using established models and our in-house super-computing facility. We also conducts GHG inventorization and mitigation analysis. We provide national and international policy analysis and review, and contribute to key issues in negotiations encompassing adaptation, mitigation, technology, and finance.
Environment
Carbon sequestration potential and biodiversity assessment
We undertake study for companies to estimate the carbon sink and other co-benefits including the biodiversity conservation from the plantation activities carried out in and around the companies premises.
Capacity building for management of natural resources
We undertake work on various institutional issues relating to participatory forest management, and have major interests in the study of forest-based livelihoods and benefit-sharing at the community level.
Enhanced oil recovery from mature oil reserves
We have developed technologies of 'MEOR' (microbial enhanced oil recovery) for mature oil reserves, and PDB (paraffin degrading bacteria) for prevention of paraffin deposition in oil pipelines, which help in increasing the yield of oil wells.
Multidisciplinary research on natural resource conservation
We conduct water audits and quality testing that typically include: Estimation of building water use; recommendations of water saving fixtures; estimation of landscape water demand based on input on the soft areas, plant species factors, and the climatic factors; estimation of rainwater harvesting potential and recommendations on the reuse and recycling of treated waste water and rainwater, and appropriate waste-water management schemes and systems.
Water, soil and sludge testing
Accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) we provide services to test water (ground, surface, and drinking water), soil, and sludge.

Environmental Design & Technical Advisory
We offer comprehensive green design consultancy by integrating energy efficiency, renewable energy, and resource management into built environment. Using advanced simulation tools, we assess environmental and economic impacts. Our expertise spans emission inventories, life cycle assessments, logistics decarbonisation, and sustainable mobility. We believe that impactful urban transformation requires collaboration. By partnering with governments, public agencies, and communities, we co-create climate-responsive, inclusive, and resilient infrastructure strategies.
Policy, Strategic Planning & Advocacy
We support evidence-based policymaking at national, state, and city levels. Our contributions include in developing various building codes and manuals, and aiding climate-resilient planning frameworks. We provide strategic guidance on low-carbon mobility, urban freight, energy transitions, and transit-oriented development. Flagship initiatives, such as the Urban Living Labs exemplify our participatory planning approach bringing together citizens, policymakers, researchers, and private sector actors to co-design solutions rooted in local context, collective ownership, and long-term impact.
Research, Innovation & Impact Assessment
Our applied R&D focuses on sustainable building materials, passive design, thermal comfort, zero-emission technologies, etc. We have developed innovative tools to assess GHG calculators and contributed to projects on buildings, transport and port logistics covering Scope 1,2 & 3 emissions. We also conduct socio-economic impact studies and user behaviour assessments for research related to building manuals, public transport and non-motorised mobility systems.
Capacity Building & Knowledge Dissemination
We have actively engaged a diverse range of stakeholders such as architects, engineers, urban planners, and policy makers through capacity-building programmes, technical trainings, and policy dialogues. Through e-courses, public engagements, and academic partnerships, we promote sustainable building materials & technologies, EV adoption, participatory governance, and sustainable urban transitions. Our knowledge products include manuals, policy briefs, and tools, leveraging global platforms like COP and the World Urban Forum.
Audits, Validation & PMU Support
We conduct detailed energy, water and resource-efficiency audits across sectors, offering techno-economic recommendations backed by simulations and monitoring. We also manage Project Management Units (PMUs) to support state and local governments in implementing ECSBC/ECBC and climate-resilient policies, with successful deployments pan India.
Ratings & Certification
We assist in achieving national and international green building certifications, including GRIHA. Our services include performance assessments and documentation support across all project stages.
The GRIHA rating is administered and promoted by GRIHA Council. GRIHA is an acronym for Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment (GRIHA). This rating was jointly developed by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India and The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) in 2007. It holistically evaluates the environmental performance of buildings over its entire life cycle based on qualitative and quantitative criteria, thereby providing a definitive standard for green buildings and low-carbon developments.
