Development of Commercial Plant Tissue Culture Laboratory at NAREI, Guyana by TERI

TERI has signed MoU with NAREI (National Agricultural Research and Extension institute), Ministry of Agriculture Guyana to upgrade and re-activation of commercial plant tissue lab for one million plant production capacity. The construction of the tissue culture laboratory is part of the Sustainable Agricultural Development Project (SADP), funded through by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).

This facility utilizes tissue culture techniques to produce high-quality, disease-disease plantlets for mandate crop of Guyana, including Plantains, Breadfruit, Pineapples, Strawberry, Cassava and other economically important plants. The lab aims to improve agricultural production, reduce food import dependency, and strengthen Guyana's position as a regional food hub.
