The broad set of activities of this assignment would be as follows: (1) Provide in-depth analysis of the multiple benefits of energy efficiency in India; (2) Provide in-depth analysis on industrial energy efficiency in India; (3) Provide in-depth analysis on buildings energy efficiency in India; (4) Provide in-depth analysis on energy efficient cooling in India; (5) Provide in-depth analysis and expert advice on market based mechanisms and the promotion of energy services; (6) Provide substantive in-depth analysis and relevant energy efficiency expertise
Air pollution is a global concern contributing to a wide range of health risks. According to the World Health Organisation data, around 7 million people die worldwide every year from exposure to the polluted air. More than 80% of people living in urban areas are exposed to concentrations higher than the level recommended by the WHO. India is one of the countries that are severely affected by air pollution. More than half of the world's twenty most polluted cities are located in India.
The project aims in providing the local communities safe and sustainable market places, which will subsequently boost their business to a great level. The existing market spaces are not structured and 90% of the vendors put up their stalls by the roadside, thereby making it very unsafe for trade. The project thereby aims to provide two concrete market infrastructures at Rani Development Block.
The main objectives of the workshops are to: (1) recognize the issues, challenges and constraints of Solid Waste Management; (2) understand the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016; (3) awareness on various approaches, technologies, and their financial implications; (4) plan to implement solutions in their city; (5) achieve capacity building of ULB staff for implementing the plans; (6) sensitization on Swachh Survekshan 2020.
Discharge of untreated wastewater has resulted in contamination of 75% of all surface water bodies in India. Our water resources are under severe stress resulting from overexploitation and pollution.
In an earlier project rubber wastewater discharge has been remediated with biofilm developed by microalgal and bacteria consortia isolated from waste. Lead findings are microalgae/bacteria either in planktonic or biofilm environment the wastewater pH rose from 4 to 12 in a week with substantial reduction of N, PO4, COD and TDS. The alkaline water requires neutralization before recycling/disposal to environment with H ions create sludge. The raised pH in medium with microalga growth is due to sequestration of dissolved CO2 into biomass.
The current assignment aims is supporting Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) units in implementation of the energy-efficiency, renewable energy and technology upgradation measures by enabling access to easy and concessional finance (debt and third-party equity), facilitating technology tie-up with manufacturers, suppliers and energy service companies (ESCOs) and facilitating convergence of state and central government supported schemes with the current initiatives.

Taxol is one of the essential medicines listed by the World Health Organization as a cytotoxic drug that kills cancer cells. Due to the slow growing nature of the Taxus plant, the drug is very expensive to manufacturer and thus not sustainable. Polyisoprenylated benzophenones (PIB) are the class of secondary metabolites which exhibited taxol mimic properties in both in vitro and in vivo assays. The genus Garcinia has been reported to be the main source of PIB.
As per decision of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) taken in 2016, a global market-based mechanism called Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA) is to be implemented from 2021 with the objective of mitigating the GHG impacts of international flights and contributing to the global efforts to keep global warming below 2 degrees.
