Read moreThere was a possibility of a flood-like situation occurring in the low-lying areas of Mumbai, the Maharashtra government told the state Legislative Council, citing a TERI report. In his written reply to a question raised by an NCP legislator about the possibility of a 26 July 2005 type flood striking Mumbai again, State Environment Minister Mr Sanjay Deotale informed the House that TERI has warned about a possible recurrence in its primary report submitted to the state government.

Read moreThe Gujarat state education department has decided to develop new schools and subsequently convert existing ones into environment friendly 'green schools' in order to improve retention and enrolment in government schools. Initially, ten new green schools will be developed in ten districts in 2013-14 at a cost of Rs 17.6 crore.
