Demonstration of geothermal heat pump system integrated with renewable energy system in Arunachal Pradesh at Kimin General Hospital

TERI has designed and commissioned a geothermal-based heat pump system for space cooling and heating in Arunachal Pradesh as a pilot technology demonstration at the Science Center. The current project is the replication of the earlier successful demonstration at Kimin General Hospital with an additional solar PV system.

The ground coverage is 5674 sq.m with approximate built up area is 37674 sq.m. Indus Towers has supported TERI for its LaBL (Lighting a Billion Lives) program. With the help of such assistance, in more than 500 villages in the state of Uttar Pradesh, it has been possible to address the issues of basic lighting and other energy needs through installation of centralized solar charging station (SCS /SMG) and solar home lighting systems.

Lack of reliable sources of energy in remote hilly areas has been a major challenge. Though the government has accelerated its efforts towards provisioning of grid in these areas there are issues related to reliable supply of power. TERI with the support from Signify Innovation India Ltd is working on a project to provide power from solar energy for primary, middle, and residential schools in Jharkhand, West Bengal and Meghalaya.

Kumaon Vani Community Radio - 90.4 MHz

The radio station is run by youth from the local community, under TERI's supervision.

Kumaon Vani radio station was set up by TERI in March 2010 in Nainital district of Uttarakhand with the aim of bringing together communities across several villages in the Kumaon region.
