A major portion of energy is consumed in the SMiE sector to meet the low-grade thermal energy requirements such as water heating, steam generation and hot air generation. Reducing the consumption of fossil fuels and efficient utilization of locally available biomass are priorities of the Government of India. Recently TERI has initiated a pilot financing of biomass thermal gasifier systems through the TERI Licensee manufacturers.

LaBL is reaching national parks and wildlife sanctuaries across the country to strengthen the existing institutions for biodiversity conservation. Solar charging stations provide sufficient incentive to village communities residing around these nature reserves to work in accord with the forest departments as well as local NGOs working towards conservation.

1. To show and estimate the scale of the potential for job creation in key, low carbon industrial sectors in India
2. To demonstrate the interlocking nature of low carbon employment opportunities using international analysis of how global value and supply chains in low carbon sectors

The several operational inefficiencies and the large revenue gaps in the power sector of Jammu and Kashmir have hampered the financial stability of the sector. Following which, the Power Development Department, Government of Jammu and Kashmir commissioned TERI to carry out an assessment of technical and financial performance of the power sector in the state in 2009, which is characterized by operational inefficiencies and develop a roadmap for turnaround.

The aim of the project is to provide an action plan and design for implementation of rainwater harvesting and water conservation measures at BSES Power Station in Commonwealth Village, New Delhi.
Specific objectives of the project are:
a) Lower operating costs by reducing dependence on tankers and DJB piped water supply
b) Give BSES greater ownership and control over its water supply
c) Decrease the environmental impact of BSES power station with regards to Water.
