US-India Summit to accelerate growth and development of energy partnerships

The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) today announced the Fifth US-India Energy Partnership Summit, which is scheduled to take place from September 30 October 1, 2014, in Washington, DC, during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the US, and in the wake of the UN Secretary General's Climate Summit. At a pre-Summit Roundtable discussion held today, participants deliberated on new avenues to strengthen energy cooperation between the two countries, especially in the areas of renewable energy, sustainable cities and sustainable transport.

The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) and Oxford Bookstore launched Anjana Basu's 'In the Shadow of Leaves' in Kolkata today to mark naturalist Jim Corbett's 139th birth anniversary which, incidentally is also Tiger Day in Bengal.

The South Asia Regional Network of the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) was launched in New Delhi today. The SDSN is a unique global collaboration to mobilize expertise and experience from academia, civil society, and the private sectorto help find solutions for some of the world’s most pressing – and interconnected – environmental, social, and economic challenges. The mission of the SDSN is to accelerate practical problem solving for sustainable development at local, national and global scales.

Improve fuel quality and implement norms to curb vehicular pollution

Top experts today called for the advancement of fuel quality and vehicular emission norms to curb the growing vehicular emissions and poor air quality in Indian cities. At a workshop organised by The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) in collaboration with the International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT), participants discussed the roadmap to control emissions and improving efficiency in the transport sector. The workshop 'Reducing Vehicular Emissions and Improving Fuel Efficiency' was supported by the Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation.
TERI's Green Agenda to address people's concerns and problems

The World Environment Day has come as a wake-up call for many. The Energy and Resources Institute’s (TERI) latest Environmental Survey 2014 of eight cities found that the environment was accorded the top priority by a majority of people, with almost 90 per cent believing that climate change is now a reality. Overall, people perceived air quality had worsened and the number of bird species in their cities had also declined.
TERI launches Capacity Building Hub at UN Sustainable Energy For All Forum in New York

A capacity building hub called the 'Specialized Training, Education and Experiential Resources (STEER)' was launched by The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) and TERI University on the sidelines of the first annual Sustainable Energy for All Forum (SE4ALL), being held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York from June 4-6. Over 1,000 global leaders, experts and energy practitioners are participating in the deliberations that include representatives from government, business, international organizations and civil society groups, to review progress and share innovative solutions.
