Toxicity of nano particles against the earthworm and its potential as bio-transformation agent

December 1, 2014

Nano-particles in the range of 1-100 nm have been present on earth since its existence and have been used by mankind for thousands of years. Among various nanomaterials, the intense interest in the metallic nano-particles (MNPs) is due to their unique chemical and electronic properties arising from the small volume to big surface area ratio and the separation in the electronic energy level. The change in the properties at this length scale from their bulk counterparts is not only as a result of scaling factors but also from different causes from different materials.

Biohydrogen production from second generation feedstock

November 1, 2014

Compared to other biofuels, bio-hydrogen holds the most attractive future energy carrier due to its high energy density, low energy input and higher conversion efficiency to usable power including its non-polluting nature. Among different biological processes fermentative bio-hydrogen production by dark anaerobes through dark fermentation route, offer a promising route of hydrogen production as this process produces hydrogen at a faster rate without any requirement of light energy source.

Development of Okra varieties resistant to YVMV using marker assisted selection

July 1, 2014

The project aims to identify molecular markers linked to YVMV resistance in Okra using mapping populations. A number of strategies such as QTL mapping and bulked segregant analysis will be done for this purpose.

Stabilization and upgradation of biomass derived bio-oils over tailored multifunctional catalysts in a dual stage catalytic process to produce liquid hydrocarbon fuels and Its application studies

September 11, 2013

The high oxygen content, acidity and immiscibility with petroleum fuels hinders large-scale applicability of bio-oil obtained via pyrolysis of biomass. This project proposes to develop a technology for Catalytic Two-Stage Stabilization and Upgradation of Bio-oil for enhanced stability and potential applications as fuels. The first stage in the proposed work aims decreasing oxygen content and acidity for better stability of bio-oil.

GRIHA Consultancy services for 5-star GRIHA rating for the proposed World HQ building at Gurgaon

January 23, 2012

The project is an upcoming World HQ building in Gurgaon and will involve different resource optimisation techniques with an aim to achieve 5-star GRIHA rating. The resource optimisation involves optimisation of energy and water consumption of the building. The optimisation will be done at different stages of the project and will start right at the construction stage by optimising the building design in terms of proper orientation, shading of wall, roof and glass. Various options of energy-efficient building envelope, lighting system, HVAC system will be analysed.
