This Assignment will involve following two components: (i) Designing of a new Market Based Mechanism (MBM) with the following key steps: (a) Baseline assessments and setting the scope; (b) Determining and setting mitigation targets along with time-frame; (c) Ensuring market stability through design features like a price collar; (d) Setting up an oversight and compliance mechanism to enforce the target; (e) Stakeholder discussions and buy-in; and (ii) Providing policy recommendations and roadmap for implementation of the select MBM.
This project aims to fill two crucial gaps in the world's response to climate change by generating an evidence base to expand the participation and leadership of climate action by cities, companies, civil society groups, and other sub/non-state actors in the Global South, as well as the effectiveness of such action.
The project objective is to study the Economic Rate of Return (ERR) for various Renewable Energy Technologies (RETs) in India. The study comprises determination of Financial Rate of Return (FRR) for various RETs (solar/wind/biomass/ small hydro etc.) based on primary research and estimation of ERR based on secondary research of socio-economic costs and benefits from each RET, e.g. savings in carbon emissions, local air pollution, avoided health impacts, employment generation etc.
Fine particulate matter is the pollutant of most concern in developing countries today on the basis of exposure, toxicity, and ambient concentrations. Two major contributors in transport to fine particulate air pollution are diesel vehicles and two-stroke engine gasoline vehicles. Due to strong motorization, India has become one of the biggest emitters of atmospheric pollutants. The country's fuel consumption in the transport sector has approximately doubled in every ten years since 1980.
The main objectives of the proposed study are to: a. measure air pollutants concentrations (criteria pollutants) at different area categories of Ludhiana city b. prepare grid-wise emission inventory accounting for various pollution sources in Ludhiana city c. project emission inventories for future under different control options d. conduct source apportionment study of particulate matter (PM10 and PM2.5) e. preparation of an air quality action plan after prioritising of control options
Creating a Comprehensive Village Development Plan (CVDP) for Matmora Gaon Panchayat, Lakhimpur district, Assam concentrating on investment in community resources, common natural resources, water management activities, and small village infrastructure that would directly enhance local livelihood activities undertaken by SHGs or other village level institutions, household level vital amenities that help improve social status, energy, sanitation, drinking water etc.
The project aims to organise the environmental quiz competition - Green Olympiad - in schools all over India for senior and junior students.
NEDO is implementing a smart community pilot project in selected sub-stations of Panipat. TERI provided support to the members of consortium and NEDO for undertaking the pre-feasibility study and feasibility study. In continuation to this, TERI proposes to assist NEDO for implementing smart community pilot project in Panipat. This 5 day course from 4th to 8th September will deliberate on deriving linkages between Green GDP and Environmental economics and accounting, keeping forestry sector at the center stage and will deliberate on the role of forests in providing various ecosystem services (ecological, economic, socio-cultural etc)
