The World CEO Forum in its new avatar ‘World CEO Sustainability Summit’ (WCSS) discussed and debated sustainable ways of doing business and avenues of growth. Under the overarching theme ‘Doing Business-While Protecting the Global Commons,’ top CEOs and business leaders discussed targeted business and sustainability issues in the run-up to Delhi Sustainable Development Summit 2012. The World CEO Sustainability Summit was organised by TERI-Business Council for Sustainable development (BCSD) in association with the WBCSD (World Business Council for Sustainable Development), Geneva.
One of the major challenges faced by emerging economies, like India, is depleting conventional energy resources and enhancing energy access. Distributed generation together with application of smart grid solutions could help in addressing some of these challenges. Smart Grid not only manages the generation sources for optimum utilization but also allows consumers to participate in energy usage decisions by adopting latest digital technologies.
The world today is grappling with serious issues of Climate Change with far-reaching consequences for our forthcoming generations. Until now, much emphasis has been laid on understanding atmospheric and scientific changes resulting from climate change. However, the role of youth, their perspective, solutions for change and social implications of Climate Change has gained attention.
The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) in association with the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organisation (NEDO), Japan organised a conference today titled 4th India Japan Energy Forum – Business opportunities in Energy Efficiency and Renewables. The conference focussed on technological options for enhancing energy efficiency and promoting renewable energy technologies.
The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) works towards fulfilling its vision of 'working towards global sustainable development, creating innovative solutions for a better tomorrow', through its flagship event the Delhi Sustainable Development Summit (DSDS). The DSDS has been held annually in New Delhi since 2001, tackling key developmental issues of the times, having emerged as the only forum on global sustainability issues, with an accentuated thrust on problems relating to the developing world.
