TERI and BSES partner to enhance Delhi’s power distribution with solar, storage, and smart technologies

The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) signed two MoUs with BSES Rajdhani Power Limited (BRPL) and BSES Yamuna Power Limited (BYPL) to drive advancements in Delhi’s power distribution sector. The collaboration focuses on expanding grid-connected solar rooftop PV systems, energy storage solutions, electric vehicle integration, and smart distribution technologies.

The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) suggested a 10-point action plan to the Delhi govt for a cleaner Yamuna in three years. Among other things, it recommended a relook at the 1994 water-sharing treaty to improve Yamuna's flow from Hathni Kund, better monitoring of the river and regular desilting, and adopting a jal shakti ministry-like model that brings all agencies linked to Yamuna under a central regulator.

Dr Soumya Swaminathan, former WHO chief scientist and Health Ministry advisor, stated on the sidelines of TERI's World Sustainable Development Summit in New Delhi that India is "most likely" undercounting heat-related deaths as a result of a lack of robust data. However, the government is currently enhancing surveillance to mitigate the health effects of extreme conditions.
