This study aims to prepare feasibility reports for setting up of decentralised solar PV power plants (having capacity of around 20 kWp) to provide electricity supply to the industrial growth centres in four locations (Ganta, Bo, Kpandebu and the Rubber Science Technology Institute at Harper. The study will also provide recommendations on the system integration for the power plant, layout of the system, operational modalities and business recommendations based on a sustainability approach.

TERI and Integarted Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) are already partners in taking LaBL forward in Koraput, Odisha. ITDA is supporting more than 200 tribal school hostels in the district. Children in these residential schools study in the light of dimly lit kerosene lamps during the evening hours. TERI has supported provision of solar lights in three of these schools. ITDA has shown an interest in taking this initiative forward to more schools. UNICEF has come forward to support the initiative in 20 such schools in the districts.

The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) is assisting the Government of Rajasthan for the preparation of the Rajasthan State Action Plan on Climate Change with support from the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).

Higher curcumin content of turmeric fetches better price in international market. The curcumin content may vary between different varieties of turmeric (Curcuma longa). Further, the developmental status of the rhizome and various agroclimatic factors can also influence the curcumin content significantly. The Lakadong variety of turmeric, which is grown in some parts of Meghalaya, is reported to contain high curcumin content (7.4%) and thus has immense potential for commercialisation.
