The rapid urbanisation of various areas of Tamil Nadu has put a strain on municipalities and resources. In light of this, a report was prepared by TERI for the Chennai Metropolitan Devleopment Authority. It suggests policy incentives that would encourage the growth of green buildings through measures such as a certficiation system and rebates to developers on PFSI and other such charges for green buildings, rain water and waste water tax, and fast clearance for projects registered for green certification.
