Establishment of the Cluster Cells in Indore, Madhya Pradesh under Global Housing Technology Challenge - India (GHTC-India)

The Federal Republic of Germany and the Government of India have, under the Indo-German Technical Cooperation, agreed to jointly promote the ‘Indo-German Energy Programme’ (IGEN) with the aim to foster sustainability in built environment in order to use sustainable materials for thermal comfort and in turn improve the environment and climate conditions.

Under this project, it is targeted that climate resilience and thermal comfort in buildings be enhanced by adopting innovative passive measures, local sustainable and low embodied energy material coupled with best available technologies in construction and buildings in affordable housing.  The project is designed for mainstreaming technologies in the affordable housing sector. TERI is involved with Indore Cluster Cell to provide technical and implementation support for mainstreaming sandwich panels technology in the Global Housing Technology challenge - Light House Project located in Indore and dissemination of the same in the cluster of following states. Chhattisgarh, Goa, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Telangana.

The key objectives of the project are to:
1. Provide support to IGEN’s programme, Climate Smart Buildings (CSB), to include thermal comfort and climate resilience in the Local Government framework through building Byelaws amendment and support implementation of Light house project in Indore.
2. Provide support to facilitate the Housing for All programme under Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs for Indore cluster cell which will be assigned with a Light House Project.
