Development of Pilot Scale Pyrolysis Test Unit for Production of Liquid Bio-fuels and Value Added By-products from Biodiesel Plant Wastes

Under this project a Pyrolysis Test Unit(100kg/dayPTU) is developed. a patent has been filed on the design and operation of the Pyrolysis based Bioreactor.This Pilot Reactor is developed for production of liquid biofuel, a renewable substitute to fuel oil from selected biomass through pyrolysis route. The toxic oil seed wastes (e.g. oil seed cakes and shells) from bio-diesel plants like, Jatropha and Pongamia have been evaluated as potential source of Bio oil and high value Char. This project was undertaken to develop a Prototype Pilot Test Unit, study the performance, generate bio-oil and subsequent characterization of oil and char to evaluate the feasibility of using as fuel.
