Tremendous untapped potential exists in Goa to augment fish production from inland/brackishwater aquaculture resources, which are spread across the State that can contribute considerably to improve the livelihoods as also to the empowerment of rural people. The future development of aquaculture depends on the adoption of new and innovative production technologies, management and utilization of less utilized water resources and proper market tie-ups. In spite of the potential for aquaculture in Goa there is lack of awareness for the technologies and hence there is a need for their more effective utilization for diversified aquaculture and fishery enhancement.
