 Building Integrated Photo Voltaic

This project was a multi-country initiative. It focused on advancing BIPV adoption across the Global South through technical assessment, policy analysis, stakeholder engagement, and capacity building, enabling climate-responsive urban energy transition pathways. The following are the activities performed under this project:-

  • Assessed BIPV technologies across climatic zones and building typologies to inform technical strategy and deployment frameworks.
  • Reviewed policy and regulatory frameworks to support institutional and implementation strategies for BIPV adoption.
  • Conducted stakeholder consultations with architects, policymakers, and developers for data collection and engagement with countries like Denmark, Sweden, Liberia, Brazil, Bhutan, Spain, Chile.
  • Developed comprehensive guidebook titled: “BIPV in Action: Global Climate Case Study Compendium” with case studies, implementation strategies, and governance-oriented deployment pathways.
  • Prepared knowledge and communication materials to strengthen outreach, awareness, and adoption across regions.
  • Supported global capacity building through training resources and case study compendium for multi-country stakeholders.

Stakeholder Consultation Workshop on Scaling BIPV Integration in India: Challenges and Opportunities

TERI and GRIHA Council convened a National Stakeholder Consultation Workshop on “Scaling BIPV Integration in India: Challenges & Opportunities” at India Habitat Centre to accelerate adoption of Building-Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV) on 21 January 2026 as India advances towards its net-zero target. The consultation brought together policymakers, industry leaders, architects, researchers, financial institutions, and international experts to identify practical pathways for mainstreaming BIPV across India’s rapidly expanding built environment, integrating solar generation into building elements (façades, roofs, glazing, and shading devices) without additional land requirements.(Read more: https://www.teriin.org/event/stakeholder-consultation-workshop-scaling-bipv-integration-india-challenges-and-opportunities)
