BIGASTORE: Biogas driven cold storages for Sub Zero applications in India

The objective of the proposed project is to design and engineer cold storage container using bio-waste as energy source. Using bio-waste as energy source reduces high losses in food production and storage that is caused due to missing cold storage and cooling chains in developing and emerging countries. Such countries are also affected by a lack of bio-waste treatment and uncontrolled dumping, which highly compromises on the hygiene of the public. As bio-waste and cooling demand often occur at the same time in the food industry (e.g. cleaning of fish in the fish industries, meat processing in slaughterhouses), cold storage by using bio-waste-based cold production would be a smart way to address the above mentioned problems.
