Fellow and Area Convenor, Centre for Nano Research

Dr Palash Kumar Manna is a Fellow and Area Convenor at the Centre for Nano Research within the Sustainable Agriculture Division. An accomplished nano-biotechnology researcher with nearly 15 years of experience, Dr Manna specializes in bridging the disciplines of physics, chemistry, and biology. He began his career at the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, where he mastered the synthesis and atomic-level characterization of nanomaterials using advanced laboratory techniques and large-scale neutron facilities.

His subsequent roles at TIFR (Mumbai), the University of Manitoba (Canada), and NISER (Bhubaneswar) expanded his expertise into energy materials, storage devices, and advanced biomedical applications—efforts that fostered collaborations with premier research groups across North America, Europe, and Asia.

At TERI, he drives innovation in sustainable agriculture through the development of nanofertilizers, nanopesticides, and slow-release nutrient systems. His work encompasses formulation, coating chemistry, and characterization according to regulatory protocols, alongside soil health and real-time greenhouse gas (GHG) studies. With over 50 publications and a strong record of mentoring PhD students, he also contributes to global safety frameworks through the International Network Initiative on Safe and Sustainable Nanotechnologies (INISS-Nano).
