The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) in association with Jain Irrigations Systems Limited today signed a memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to set up a 'Resource Centre on Water Use Efficiency'. This is an effort to address the current and future challenges of water and food security. The MoU marks the beginning of a new chapter in carrying out comprehensive research on the themes of water use efficiency at the farm level, water conservation and regeneration practices along with more efficient farm system practices.
During the third day of DSDS 2014, The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) felicitated the winners of the Second Nicholas Georgescu-Roegen Awards. The Award comprises of two categories - Unconventional Thinking and Bioeconomic Practice. Professor Inge Ropke has been named the winner of the Georgescu-Roegen Award for Unconventional Thinking, while Western Ghats Ecology Expert Panel chaired by Prof. Madhav Gadgil for Bioeconomic Practice.
On the second day of the 14th edition of The 'Delhi Sustainable Development Summit' (DSDS), held in New Delhi today, world leaders and top experts called for a global coalition to fight poverty and usher in sustainable development while combating the ill effects of climate change. The event is being organized by The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) and the theme of this year's Summit is "Attaining Food, Water, and Energy Security For All".
The 14th Delhi Sustainable Development Summit, organized by the Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), witnessed an array of speakers voicing their opinion on the theme of the conference: 'Attaining energy, water and food security for all'. Sustainable growth and development was stressed by various speakers, especially in the context of developing countries facing a crisis in midst of climate change and scarcity of natural resources.
Global think tank TERI launched the 14th edition of its annual flagship event, The 'Delhi Sustainable Development Summit' (DSDS) today. The theme of this year's Summit is "Attaining Food, Water, and Energy Security For All".
Dr Kandeh K. Yumkella, Secretary-General's Special Representative for Sustainable Energy for All and Chief Executive of the Sustainable Energy for All Initiative, urged countries across Asia to commit to achieving sustainable energy for all by the year 2030 by increasing access to energy, improving energy efficiency and increasing the use of renewables.
The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) today organized the 'High Level Corporate Dialogue' as the Curtain Raiser to 14th Delhi Sustainable Development Summit (DSDS 2014), its annual flagship event. The theme of the Dialogue was ‘How will Businesses Lead India's Energy, Water and Food Security?'
