Need for Clarity on Coal

Global environmental groups have made the peaking and phasing out of coal-based power plants an immediate goal in the pursuit of the transition to a net carbon zero economy to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees. The time has come to begin thinking about the pathways to the end of coal mining and thermal power generation in the country in the coming decades and how to have a 'just transition'; the transition appearing inevitable now.
