Goa set to auction 10 iron ore dumps by Jan

The directorate of mines and geology (DMG) has initiated the process to auction 10 iron ore mining dumps with an estimated quantity of 22 million tonnes. DMG has issued guidelines for the bidding process, which will require mining firms to submit a detailed project report (DPR) before participating in the auction. The DPRs will be evaluated by TERI, and only technically qualified bidders will be permitted to participate.

According to experts, assuming the current pace of biomining, more than three decades would be required to decongest Ghazipur alone—even without considering fresh waste arrivals on a daily basis.
