Webinar on Solar Thermal Technologies for Industrial Applications

20 Nov 2024 20 Nov 2024

Most of the process heating temperature requirement is below 400 °C. It may also be noted that approximately 80% of energy consumption is powered with the help of coal, natural gas and petroleum products. It therefore becomes important to exploit renewable energy resources which include solar, wind, hydropower, and biomass, etc. Among renewable energy resources, solar energy has maximum potential and produces clean energy which does not harm the environment during its operation.

Solar Thermal Technologies for Industrial Applications (STIA) represent an incredibly promising market segment, showing significant growth in recent years. This growth is observed not only in the increasing number of applications but also in their scale, spanning various industrial sectors across Europe and many other countries. With its vast potential, this technology can play a key role in industrial decarbonisation efforts, contributing as such to net-zero targets.

India has been promoting solar thermal systems, especially in low and medium temperature ranges, through a few initiatives supported by national as well as bilateral/multilateral programmes. There is therefore an opportunity for India to learn from its own installations and the solar energy-based heating initiatives underway internationally; and then to develop a long visibility programme (incorporating elements for demand generation, speedy procurement, etc.) to accelerate on-ground deployment of solar thermal projects for industrial and other heat applications to contribute to achieving national targets of decarbonization.

In order to give a further impetus to the ongoing efforts to employ Solar Thermal Technologies for Industrial Applications (STIA), SESI and ISES jointly with TERI and Shakti Foundation are organizing a Webinar on 20 November 2024 (CET 0930 - 1130 hrs; IST 1400 - 1600 hrs).

You are requested to fill up the registration form given in the link below (participation in the Webinar is free).
