Training Programme on "Grid-connected Rooftop Solar PV Systems" for Channel Partners, New Entrepreneurs, Manufacturers

TERI organized a three-days training programme (first in the series) on Grid-connected Rooftop Solar PV Systems· for Channel Partners, Project Developers, Manufacturers and New Entrepreneurs on 7th to 9th December (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday), 2015 at Mumbai, Maharashtra. The training programme was designed in such a way that it would enable the target groups (exclusively for the Channel Partners, Project Developers, Manufacturers and New Entrepreneurs) to understand technical, financial and regulatory aspects, including quality standards, project management, grid-interconnection, metering arrangements, and remote monitoring mechanism of rooftop solar PV systems.

Various practitioners and renowned industry experts from TERI, MNRE, SECI, MERC, KfW, IIT-Bombay, Reliance Infrastructure, Godrej & Boyce, SunAlpha and SMA Solar shared their views and experiences on implementing Rooftop PV systems.

45 participants from various Channel Partners empaneled under MNRE, New Entrepreneurs and Project Developers have attended this training programme. The programme was concluded with a valedictory session and distribution of certificates to the participants, along-with the site visit to IIT Bombay for 1MWp Rooftop SPV installation.

During the programme, few discussion points and issues were raised by the participants such as:

• The need to educate banks and other financial institutions especially at regional level to disburse loan for Rooftop SPV Projects across states
• The need to develop a standardized checklist for banks to streamline the project lending process
• Creating awareness amongst DISCOM officials outside HQ people at regional level for providing ease in connectivity of Grid-connected Rooftop SPV Projects
• Clarity required from MNRE on how the subsidy would be rerouted through banks and other financial institutions

The programme was overall a success and was highly appreciated by the participants as well as the speakers.
