TERI’s Impactful Clean-Up Drives and Sustainability Event

TERI in collaboration with partners, organized clean-up drives and a sustainability event in Goa on October 14 and 16, 2024, under the theme “Together for a Cleaner Tomorrow: Join the Movement.” Supported by the Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) and the Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI), the initiatives mobilized over 300 volunteers and resulted in the collection of more than 900 kg of waste.

On October 14, TERI partnered with MES College for drives at Bogmalo Beach (80 kg waste collected by 110 volunteers) and along the MS Junction–MES College stretch (320 kg waste by 120 volunteers). The same day, TERI and MES College hosted “Safeguarding Our Future: A Path to Sustainable Solutions,” featuring addresses by Mr. Mahesh Patil (GSPCB), Mr Sanjay Amonkar (GCCI), Mr Gaurav Pokle (REF), and Mrs Manasvi Kamat (MES College), with key contributions from MrSouvik Bhattacharjya, Dr Ashwini Pai Panandiker, and MsVani Pandey from TERI.

On October 16, 50 volunteers, including AITD students, cleaned the stretch from Caranzalem to Aivao Beach under the leadership of Mr. Ripudaman Bevli, “The Plog Man of India,” collecting 500 kg of waste.

These efforts, supported by the Responsible Earth Foundation (REF), KCIC, Rotary Club of Dona Paula, Rotary Club Port Town, Swarajya, NCC cadets, NSS students, and faculty from MES College and AITD, highlighted the power of community-led action and partnerships in driving sustainable change for Goa’s future.
