MDP on Climate Change and State Preparedness: Impacts, Vulnerability and Adaptation
TERI organized a five-day training programme for senior Central Government officials from IAS, IPS, and Indian Forest Services from September 15–19, 2014 in TERI, IHC, New Delhi, sponsored by the Department of Personnel and Training, Government of India. Around 21 officials attended the programme. The objective of this training programme was to build capacity of state-level policymakers on topics related to climate change impacts, risks and vulnerabilities, and thereby assist in the development of appropriate adaptation decisions at the state level. Dr R K Pachauri addressed the participants on the opening day. The technical sessions covered scientific aspects of climate change, sector specific issues related to vulnerability to climate change and adaptation. The sessions also gave an overview of the current scenario of climate change negotiations in the International and National context, and the financial issues related to climate change. A field visit was also organized for the participants demonstrating the application of the technologies applied for energy efficient and environmentally sustainable infrastructure at the TERI Retreat Facility at the Gual Pahari.
