Guyana is advancing its agricultural sector by introducing TERI-developed nano-fertilizers, including nano urea, as part of a national push toward climate-resilient farming, sustainable agriculture, and increased crop yields. These encapsulated nanoparticles reduce reliance on conventional fertilizers by 25-50 per cent, aiming to enhance efficiency and reduce environmental impact. Nano Urea, developed by TERI and Zuari FarmHub Limited (ZFHL) using cutting-edge green nano biotechnology, was launched in Guyana in 2025 after the success of initial trials conducted by the Guyana Rice Development Board (GRDB) in partnership with the Government of Guyana. Furthermore, TERI’s other nanofertilizer products including nano DAP, nano NPK, and nano Boron also exhibited similar beneficial properties while improving environmental (soil, air, water) health in parallel.
