The 6th RD20 Conference

02 Dec 2024 06 Dec 2024
India Habitat Centre, New Delhi

The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) is hosting the 6th Research and Development 20 for clean energy technologies (RD20) event from December 2-6, 2024, at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.

RD20 is an international R&D Framework that was constituted to create a common platform for Research and Development leaders from G20 countries to achieve the carbon neutrality goal.

Since the inception of this framework, the RD20 international conferences were organized in Japan, hosted by National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST). TERI, a RD20 member institution and representing India in this forum, is hosting the conference for the first time outside Japan, in collaboration with Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE). This is because, from 2024 onwards, the RD20 event has been planned for organization in other G20 countries (outside Japan, every alternate year, each even year)

RD20 provides a common forum for the research leaders to exchange ideas and knowledge, and to identify potential collaboration opportunities among G20 countries, to work towards achieving the common goal of Carbon neutrality.

The thematic focus of this RD20 forum spans the following domains: Hydrogen, LCA and Renewable Energy. This forum also hosts international workshops in these specific domains to explore collaboration opportunities among RD20 member institutions as well as non-member institutions (RD20 member institution serves as nodal point) from G20 countries. Leaders from premier research institutes from G20 countries have participated in this RD20 conference.

The five-day event includes technical sessions, workshops, leadership sessions, and technical tours.

This event will cover technical sessions on the following broad themes: Renewable energy, Hydrogen, Life Cycle Analysis (LCA), Sustainable Aviation Fuel, and Biofuel. Following the technical session, a closed-door international workshop will be organized to identify potential collaboration opportunities among G20 countries to work jointly for addressing the challenges in the spectrum of clean energy technologies.
