Dr T P Singh has been associated as a Distinguished Fellow at the Director-General's Office of The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI). He has more than four decades of work experience at a senior management level in natural resource management and diplomacy, illegal wildlife trade, climate change, strategic planning, organizational leadership, human resource development, research and education.

He started his career with the Indian Forest Service and served in various capacities under State Governments as well as the Central Government of India. He has also served as Senior Fellow at The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), New Delhi and assisted with the setting up of TERI School of Advanced Studies, New Delhi, a post-graduate research university, and served as its first Director.

Dr Singh has contributed as the lead author of reports prepared for the Inter-governmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and as an expert for the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES), and is a recipient of a commendation from IPCC for contributing to the award of Nobel Peace Prize for 2007 to the IPCC.

For the past twenty years, he has been based in the IUCN Asia Regional Office in Bangkok, serving in various positions with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and TRAFFIC International, including as Senior Advisor IUCN Asia, and as Senior Regional Director Asia for TRAFFIC International.

Having served in India and abroad during his career, Dr Singh brings deep knowledge of the environmental issues in the Asia region, especially natural resource diplomacy. He also brings extensive knowledge and experience of working with the Governments, as well as the Civil Society Organizations and donor agencies in Southeast and South Asia as well as in the Oceania region. He holds two Master’s degrees, one in Botany and the other in Forestry, and a PhD in Botany.
