Over the past 25 years, WSDS has evolved into a dynamic multi-stakeholder platform, bringing together voices from government, industry, academia, and civil society to shape global sustainability dialogue and action for Global South. With the emergence of a new global development agenda articulated through the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), WSDS envisioned a platform that would attract leading expertise to promote collective and constructive action.
WSDS has also served as an independent international platform based in India, enabling the government to engage with diverse global stakeholders and share its plans, policies, and priorities on sustainable development and climate change. Since its inception, it was the only platform in the region of its scale and scope.
The Summit has consistently enabled inclusive and independent exchanges, translating diverse perspectives into actionable pathways. It has placed strong emphasis on government–business (G2B) and business–business (B2B) engagement, fostering collaboration and supporting sustainable growth.
WSDS has also catalyzed corporate leadership by providing dedicated platforms for industry leaders to align with policy frameworks and advance environmentally responsible practices globally.
A defining feature of the Summit is its commitment to youth engagement, bringing together young leaders, entrepreneurs, and scholars with experienced practitioners to co-create solutions. This intergenerational exchange has helped build a well-informed ecosystem capable of driving meaningful and lasting sustainability action.
