This research and innovation programme will deliver new technologies and robust evidence on the critical barriers hampering systemic change and scaling up energy access, working with Southern researchers and entrepreneurs, to drive locally relevant innovation and delivery. This will have a transformative impact on deploying renewable energy solutions in developing countries, especially in South Asia and Africa.
The project aims to develop a business case for redirecting / re-routing kerosene subsidies in India towards the solar product value chain, and in essence, to replace the use of kerosene for basic lighting at the household level by making comparable solar based lighting alternatives available and affordable.
TERI in collaboration with ONGC aims to achieve the following specific objectives: 1. To bring improved, clean, and affordable energy to identified secondary schools in Golaghat and Sibsagar through installation of a solar power plant in each school; 2. To improve the knowledge of the school authorities and children in solar energy and create a conducive atmosphere for learning and development of children; 3. To enhance ONGC's visibility in the region through appropriate branding and promotion of their CSR vision.
The project ensures provision of clean cooking and lighting facilities for 480 households spread over 10 villages of Bihar and Jharkhand. Local capacity building programme to be initiated for all individual users, cluster level technicians and energy entrepreneurs. Local ownership and entrepreneurship would be established for sustainable operations and impact of the project.
With support from RVNL, under its CSR programme, TERI is undertaking this project to solarize the Keshav Dham school and hostel at Vrindavan in order to bring improved, clean, and affordable energy provision. The specific objectives are to:
The main objectives of this project are to: - Provide clean cooking and lighting facilities for 1000 households spread over 15-20 rural villages of Jharkhand, West Bengal and Madhya Pradesh to address domestic energy issues; - Conduct local capacity-building programmes for all individual end-users, local technicians and cluster-level energy entrepreneurs; and - Promote local ownership and entrepreneurship for sustainable operations as well as long-term impact of the project.
In this project, 250 Integrated Domestic Energy Systems (cook-stoves, solar home lights, and mobile charging facilities) and 500 low-cost forced draft cook-stoves would be disseminated through local level entrepreneurship model. Awareness and training programmes would also be organized and technical know-how would be provided to village level energy entrepreneurs and end-users of cook-stoves. They would be selected in consultation with the staff of Grama Panchayath, Zilla Panchayath, and Rural Development Panchayath Raj.
TERI proposes to extend its activities under the umbrella of 'Health and Energy'. The proposal is driven by the vision of transforming Pathardi towards a model village in a phased manner. TERI has identified the following three niche areas that need to be addressed: (1) energy access; (2) health and nutrition; (3) livelihood and skill development. In the current phase, the emphasis would be given on energy access, health and nutrition.
