Training on Climate Resilient Integrated Watershed Management
TERI is organizing a training program on Climate Resilient Integrated Watershed Management on 12th April 2025 at Silver Oak, India Habitat Centre, Lodhi Road, New Delhi, India
Background
Over 80% of India’s population lives in districts vulnerable to climate-induced disasters. Rising temperatures, erratic rainfall, depleting groundwater, retreating glaciers, severe cyclones, and rising sea levels threaten livelihoods, food security, and the economy. Urban areas, particularly those with unplanned development, face increasing risks from extreme heat, flooding, and disease.
These climate shifts endanger water resources and agriculture, highlighting the urgent need for responsive water resource planning and management. The Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) 2.0, with its focus on watershed development, is crucial for strengthening rural livelihoods and water security.
However, increasing climate variability and inefficient agricultural practices are impacting watershed sustainability. To address this, innovative solutions are needed to build climate-resilient infrastructure, promote sustainable farming, and optimize natural resource use.
Objective:
This training program is designed to build capacity in climate resilience, sustainable agriculture, and efficient water management. It will equip stakeholders with knowledge of cutting-edge technologies, best practices, and participatory approaches to enhance the effective implementation of PMKSY 2.0.
