TERI launched a pilot project funded by NABARD aimed to enhance the income of marginalized farmers in Tehsil Bakshi Ka Talab, District Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh

On June 14, 2024, TERI launched a pilot project funded by NABARD aimed to enhance the income of marginalized farmers by conducting training on scientific cultivation of medicinal and aromatic plants and the use of solar technology applications in agriculture in Tehsil Bakshi Ka Talab, District Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.

The inauguration was graced by Dr. Laiq Ur Rehman, Chief Scientist at CSIR-Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (CIMAP) in Lucknow, and Mr Anandvardhan, Assistant Manager, NABARD. Dr. Laiq-ur-Rehman assured to provide quality seed and planting material and training assistance to farmers from CIMAP during the project.

Dr. P K Bhattacharya, Associate Director and Mr Vijay Vikram Singh Parihar, Associate Fellow from Knowledge Resource Centre, & Mr Akif Farooqui, Manager Project from Social Transformation & CSR represented from TERI.

The pilot project duration is of 12 months, during the project duration 14 awareness programs in different villages and a three-day training session for farmers on the scientific cultivation of medicinal and aromatic plants and the application of solar technology will be conducted. Additionally, TERI will install solar fencing to protect farmers' crops from wild and stray animals and establish a community agro-processing center to directly link farmers' products with the industry.
