Restoring Degraded Forest Landscapes: India's Approach to Sustainable Forest Management and Climate Resilience
The 20th session of the UN Forum on Forests (UNFF) will be held from 5 to 9 May 2025 at New York, United States.
Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) and The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) are jointly organising a side event on 6th May 2025 at the 20th Session of UNFF on the topic "Restoring Degraded Forest Landscapes: India's Approach to Sustainable Forest Management and Climate Resilience".
The UN Forum on Forests is a functional commission of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) with universal membership. The main objective of the Forum is to promote “the management, conservation and sustainable development of all types of forests and to strengthen long-term political commitment.
The thematic priorities of UNFF 20 are:
(i) Progress towards achievement of Global Forest Goals (GFGs) 1,3 & 5
(ii) Provide an overview of the challenges, emerging issues, which might hinder their achievement
(iii) Make suggestions to accelerate the achievement of these GFGs.
