The major focus of the PBBGC area is research and technology development, policy and consultancy in areas of sustainable low carbon biofuel, green fuel, bioenergy and bioplastics. Under this area the R&D majorly centre around thermochemical and catalytic conversion of Agro- industrial biomass and waste residues, algae, tyre, waste/scrap plastics, Used Cooking oil (UCO) etc. to advanced biofuels/green fuels such as sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) and sustainable marine fuels (SMF), biodiesel, refinery grade pyrolytic bio crude and other by products like biochar, high porosity activated carbons & silica.
