Eco–city broadly means a human settlement modelled on the self–sustaining structure and functioning of natural ecosystems. It is developed on the lines of integrated urban planning and management programmes addressing social and ecological health of the city. Navi Mumbai, a planned twin city of Mumbai, is ready to take up another stride towards sustainability through a joint venture of TERI and NMMC (Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation) under the project “ECO–CITY”.
As a 'Sustainability Partner' to Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority, TERI is providing technical inputs and handholding support in planning for upcoming urban and infrastructure development at the new capital city of Amaravati. This includes rendering services to guide, assess, facilitate and coordinate sustainable, low carbon and climate resilient urban and infrastructure development related activities in the new capital city.
The project aims to provide Indian building market with external shading products that can reduce direct solar heat gain inside a building by more than 75%, while allowing natural daylight; and to design and demonstrate the potential of low energy radiant slab cooling, integrated with natural heat sinks and establish their operational mechanism for optimum comfort and energy efficiency.
The objectives of the Study are to: Understand the factors that are impeding adoption of four-wheeled passenger vehicles in Indian cities; Suggest policy interventions required to increase their adoption. The focus of the study will be on four-wheeled passenger cars, which include both individually owned and fleet.
The objective of this study is to ascertain the incremental cost as an outcome of building green (considered as certified third party rating system) in housing projects in India (for various segments) and identify and prioritize technologies with the goal achieving at least 20% reduction in this incremental cost. Through this study TERI proposes to offer its service to: evaluate various building material and technologies to ascertain the incremental cost towards greener construction of housing projects in India;
The Energy and Resources Institute in partnership with the United Nations Environment Programme-Regional office is developing Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions in the buildings sector for Indonesia, Thailand, The Philippines and Viet Nam. The project will assist the countries in recognizing the significant mitigation potential of the building section, identify and recommend actions for development in the NAMAs, provide MRV (measurement, reporting and verification) tools and an overall framework to support NAMA development by the countries.
The proposed research effort builds on technical collaboration and relationships established over the past few years through energy modelling and analysis with between Indian and U.S. Government partners and modelling teams under the SGWG. The modelling teams are engaged in a multi-year research collaboration seeking to build on this foundation to assist in decision making through analysis on the critical issue of transport and air quality.
The project involves providing consultancy services, facilitation for documentation and commissioning for LEED NC and GRIHA for an upcoming hotel Cidade-de-Goa.
In order to address energy efficiency in existing buildings, United Technologies and TERI entered into a partnership to set up a Centre of Excellence on building energy diagnostics and evaluation for improving energy efficiency in existing buildings.
The main objectives of setting up this Centre of Excellence include:
(i) development of energy use reporting framework for the existing building sector;
The proposed residential campus envisages incorporation of green building design concepts at all levels. It is a vision of RSP Design Consultants (India) Pvt. Ltd to achieve best standards in green building design through the design intervention. TERI is the consultant for Green building design consultancy and GRIHA facilitation for the same.
