Switching to a sustainable auto-rickshaw system: Triggering sustainable lifestyles and poverty reduction in urban India- The project aims to promote sustainable consumption, the objective of the project is to provide integrated solutions based on three principles namely access to financial social services, alternative sources of revenue and clean tech for auto rickshaws thus propelling consumer to opt for cleaner choices. The European union funded project is consortium of Three partners- The Energy resource institute, ACRA Fondizone, ENVIU, Women health and Development.

By 2030, it is expected that 40% of India’s population will be living in urban areas, contributing to more than two-thirds of the country’s gross domestic product (GDP). High rates of urbanisation, industrialisation, and economic development are exerting significant pressure on civic services and infrastructure across cities in India.

Habitat Model for Efficiency and Comfort

The project aims to provide Indian building market with external shading products that can reduce direct solar heat gain inside a building by more than 75%, while allowing natural daylight; and to design and demonstrate the potential of low energy radiant slab cooling, integrated with natural heat sinks and establish their operational mechanism for optimum comfort and energy efficiency.

NAMA for Building Sector

The Energy and Resources Institute in partnership with the United Nations Environment Programme-Regional office is developing Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions in the buildings sector for Indonesia, Thailand, The Philippines and Viet Nam. The project will assist the countries in recognizing the significant mitigation potential of the building section, identify and recommend actions for development in the NAMAs, provide MRV (measurement, reporting and verification) tools and an overall framework to support NAMA development by the countries.

Inter Model Comparisons of different transportation sector policies in India in support of NDC implementation

The proposed research effort builds on technical collaboration and relationships established over the past few years through energy modelling and analysis with between Indian and U.S. Government partners and modelling teams under the SGWG. The modelling teams are engaged in a multi-year research collaboration seeking to build on this foundation to assist in decision making through analysis on the critical issue of transport and air quality.
