India, a nation abundant in natural resources and steeped in traditional wisdom, displays a rich history of harmonious coexistence with the environment. Its cultural fabric, customs, and festivals all draw upon age-old traditions, reinforcing a deep connection to the natural world. India has been a devoted advocate for climate justice, embracing eco-friendly, inventive, and sustainable practices over the decades. Even today, a significant portion of the population relies on traditional medical approaches.
In an era of growing urbanization and the escalating challenges posed by climate change, cities worldwide are seeking innovative solutions to mitigate climate-related risks while simultaneously enhancing the well-being of their citizens. This ambitious project aims to customize the SSC's analytical engine, designed for cost-benefit analysis, to cater specifically to the unique needs of the city of Bhopal.
The Smart Surface Coalition (SSC): A Catalyst for Change
The air pollution effect is perennial to the local vendors who are present near the monument and are impacted due to the outdoor air pollution near the monument. Thus, apart from the initiatives to curb air pollution, it is also essential to create awareness about the issue amongst the people whose existence depends on the monuments. Thus, an awareness drive along with the EDF to sensitize these people about the issue, its impacts and individual initiatives that can help in reducing the health impacts and subsequently the impact of air pollution on the monument.
The alarming levels of air pollution in major cities across India have raised serious concerns about public health. It is a problem that demands a united effort, spanning global, national, regional, and individual levels, to combat. The Clean Air Project (CAP) in India, supported by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), is a crucial initiative aimed at improving air quality, enhancing well-being, and mitigating climate change impacts.
TERI is committed to offering expert training across various research fields to enhance the skills of both professionals and students. These courses aim to provide individuals eager to expand their knowledge and competencies in the sector with access to cutting-edge information.

The Asia-Pacific region is undergoing an unprecedented wave of urbanization, with over half of its 2.2 billion people currently residing in cities. Already constituting half of the world's urban population, projections suggest that this number will grow by 50% by 2050, resulting in even greater infrastructure needs and escalating carbon emissions.
Fossil fuel-sourced Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) has significant environmental impacts along its well-to-wheel chain. In 2021 aviation accounted for over 2% of global energy-related CO2 emissions, having grown faster in recent decades than road, rail or shipping. The estimated consumption of ATF for international operations by Indian operators is expected to reach around 2.2 million tonnes by 2030, while that for domestic operations, it will reach 10.1 million tonnes during the same period.
