High-tech wireless sensors that measure cook stove usage can make cleaner cooking technologies more affordable for the global poor, a study finds. The study, jointly conducted by researchers from the US-based Nexleaf Analytics and the University of California San Diego and the India-based TERI, supports climate financing efforts to encourage the use of improved cook stoves that ensure better combustion and hence, lesser pollution.

The recent guidelines proposed by a panel of the Transport Ministry on taxis will help in combating vehicular pollution by reducing number of private vehicles on the roads, TERI has said. According to TERI, the proposed \"liberalised\" taxi permit regime, which removes restrictions placed on the number of city taxis as well taxis with All India Tourist Permits, means \"that the demand in the market will determine how many taxis are on the road instead of arbitrary government decisions\".

Amid worsening air quality in Delhi, TERI has released a ten-point emergency response plan, including reduction of crop burning and ban on movement of all 10-year-old vehicles in the Delhi-NCR amongst others. TERI has submitted the plan to Delhi government and the Union Environment Ministry, recommending that it be enforced immediately in whole of NCR on forecast days of very high pollution.
