Webinar on “Achieving Sustainable Waste Management: Circular Economy Approach”
24 May 2023 | 14:30 hrs to 16:30 hrs
Mission LiFE is India’s global initiative to combat climate change and promote sustainable living to achieve the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. As part of its goal to support SDGs, the TERI EIACP (Environmental Information, Awareness, Capacity Building and Livelihoods Programme) is organizing an awareness webinar on “Circular Economy and Waste Management ” that emphasizes the benefits of waste.
Circular Economy aims to eliminate all forms of junk from the market, where “junk” refers to any inefficient utilization of resources or assets. It is a restorative approach to production and consumption that involves redesigning, recovering, and reusing products and materials to reduce environmental impacts.
One of the most important environmental problems facing cities in many developing nations, including India, is solid waste management (SWM). Municipal solid waste (MSW) creation rises as a result of urban population increase and economic expansion. Another issue is the use of goods that produce hazardous waste. Medical waste from hospitals and clinics that is not properly disposed of puts the public at risk for pollution and other health issues. Waste Management is now a big concern as a result. The webinar aims to deliberate on the challenges, issues and possible solutions for managing waste and achieving economic benefits.
Learning objectives:
By the end of the webinar, participants will be able to understand:
- The significance of waste management for sustainability;
- The results of ineffective waste management planning and practises;
- The contributions made by individuals to waste management;
- Strategies and plans for sustainable waste management.
- Role of digitization in waste management.
