Review of Comprehensive Mobility Plans

The objective of this project was to explore urban sustainability with respect to the provision of basic services in Indian cities. The project was aimed to serve as a step towards the larger goal of developing a framework for guiding Indian cities towards sustainability. TERI is empanelled by the ITEC (Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation)/SCAAP (Special Commonwealth African Assistance Programme), Government of India, for conducting this programme. DISLP course is being offered under this programme for the year 2010/11. To organise a two-day India policy workshop on the status of MAC replacement technologies. The main objectives of the project are:- To devise natural, practical and sustainable strategies to control Algal blooms and to improve water quality and appearance of water of water bodies at the Central Park.
- Improvement in the qualitative aspects of water such as reduction in PH value, suspended particulate matter, coloration etc. through natural methods without any application of harsh, toxic chemicasl
- To establish a symbiotic fresh water ecosystem of natural acquatic life at the Central Park on a long term sustainable basis.
Preservation of freshwater ecosystems in Navi Mumbai for sustainable resource utilization

The salient features of the project:1. The project is the first unique demonstration effort in the entire MMR (Mumbai Metropolitan Region).
2. Setting up of an ERC focusing on fresh water ecosystems with an objective to generate scientific information through research, compilation of data in the form of a database and books, dissemination of information through awareness programs for educational institutions & visitors to the centre. ERC would organize special nature trails for students.
