Alternative energy generation options in India
April 26, 2010 to
October 23, 2010
The study aims to examine electricity generating strategies in India, given the need to significantly reduce carbon intensity in response to climate change.Particular attention will be paid to non-coal based generation (such as solar, wind, geothermal and nuclear), and what is known about the technology trajectories, costs, carbon intensity, and job creation possibilities associated with each; as well as the role of the state in developing and implementing such strategies.Molecular characterization of Jatropha curcas germplasm
October 16, 2006 to
October 15, 2010
In this proposal, we intend to a) estimate the molecular genetic diversity of Jatropha curcas accessions characterised for oil content and agronomic traits under DBT funded network project, b) development of a molecular linkage map using AFLP markers and c) identification of molecular markers linked with genes /QTLs controlling seed yield and oil content. This will help in rapid genetic improvement of Jatropha curcas through hybridization and selection.GOF Climate Change and Energy Programme: ISS (Information Sharing System) to enhance coping capacities of farming communities in dealing with climate variability and climate change
August 1, 2005 to
October 3, 2010
The overall goal of the project is to enhance the adaptive capacity of farming communities to cope with climate variability and long-term climate change The project objective is to demonstrate usefulness of Information Sharing System (ISS) in assisting agricultural farmers cope with climate variability and long term climate change The project includes strengthening channels of information flow to enable farmers? better coping with climate variability and long-term change. The project aims to strengthen ?agri and climate? information reaching the farming communities.Preparation of detailed project report of a 5 MW solar photovoltaic grid connected power project at Anantpur, AP
