GIZ India and TERI under the Indo-German project titled 'Development and Management of Waste NAMA (Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Action) in India' have adopted the city of Panaji for pilot demonstration of better waste management practices.
The two broad objectives of this project are spreading awareness among citizens and reducing GHG emissions from the waste sector. Recently, as a post-COVID strategy to continue the project outreach, TERI and GIZ India have collaborated with The Goan (newspaper) to publish weekly articles on advantages of waste management with a focus on the capital city of Goa, to spread awareness among citizens and nearby states. The articles will shed insights on the evolution of waste management, waste segregation, socioeconomics and linkage to the environment, among others. The officials of City Corporation of Panaji (CCP) are also supporting our team by contributing as co-author on some of the columns.
