Dr Sanchit Saran Agarwal is a Fellow and Area Convenor at the Centre for Energy Assessment and Modelling area of The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI). His work primarily focuses on developing decarbonization pathways through energy–economic modelling of various end-use sectors, namely agriculture, residential, commercial, industry, transport, and power supply. He is involved in projects with ministries, NITI Aayog, and several international initiatives under EU Horizon and DG CLIMA.
He is also the lead author for UNEP’s Global Environment Outlook, Seventh Edition, where his contribution addresses energy transition in the Asia–Pacific region. His research interests include energy transition, climate policy assessment, and power sector decarbonization.
An electrical engineering graduate, Dr Agarwal holds an M. Tech. and Ph.D. from the Department of Water Resources Development and Management, Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee. His doctoral research focused on qualitative and quantitative risk assessment of projects, using hydropower schemes as the case study. He is well-versed in energy modelling, multi-criteria decision-making analysis, and has several publications in national and international journals.
