Official UNFCCC Press Conference to convene global experts and Indian business leaders on accelerating climate action through innovation, finance, and partnerships

Belém, Brazil | 13 November 2025: As the world convenes in Belém for the landmark COP30 deliberations, The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) will host an official UNFCCC Press Conference on Saturday, 15 November 2025, to highlight India’s accelerating industry-led climate action and pathways to a net-zero future.

The Press Conference titled, ‘Accelerating India’s Industry-Led Climate Action for a Net-Zero Future’, will bring together eminent voices across climate science, policy, sustainable finance, global coalitions, and business leadership, foregrounding the power of cross-sectoral collaboration to achieve deep decarbonization and resilient growth,

In recent years, India’s emergence as a key global player has been marked by transformative economic progress, bold yet balanced diplomacy, and decisive climate leadership. With its unique position as both a rapidly developing economy and a champion for sustainability, India’s narrative at COP30 is one of co-creation, innovation, and inclusivity.

TERI’s work exemplifies this collaborative spirit through initiatives like the Industry Charter for Near Zero Emissions Ambition by 2050, which enables industries to voluntarily commit to decarbonization and clean technology pathways. Charter signatories have expressed their collective intent to become sectoral exemplars of low- or zero-carbon solutions, paving the way for broader industry participation in India’s net-zero journey. TERI leverages the experience and expertise of global partnerships like We Mean Business Coalition, Global Cement and Concrete Association, Long Duration Energy Storage Council.

Dr Vibha Dhawan, Director General, TERI, said: “Technology, research, and collaboration must drive our transition toward cleaner energy, resource efficiency, and circular economies. If we are to meet our climate and sustainability goals, we must integrate policy with science, scale up innovations, and foster international partnerships that translate ideas into action. At COP30, we are bringing together global thought leaders and Indian business leaders to discuss the urgency for transformative leadership for climate actions.”

Additional insights will be shared by Mr Dipak Dasgupta, Distinguished Fellow, TERI, and Mr Arupendra Nath Mullick, Vice President, TERI Council for Business Sustainability, who will highlight the growing momentum for private sector collaboration, climate finance, and policy alignment in advancing India’s sustainable development agenda.

Mr Dipak Dasgupta, Distinguished Fellow, TERI, noted: “As we head to COP30, my expectations for successful Belém negotiations are a sober reckoning of what’s ahead: a Forever Fund to save the absolutely critical Amazon and other tropical forests, a Baku to Belém climate finance roadmap that finds new ways including a multilateral sovereign guarantee fund, to make an ambitious roadmap real, NDCs that still manage to hit ambitious goals, and a big focus on funding adaptation. We are supporting Brazil on all four directions and more.”

Mr Arupendra Nath Mullick, Associate Director and Vice President, TERI Council for Business Sustainability, observed: “COP30 marks a decade since the adoption of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Paris Climate Agreement. Today, India is taking the lead for the Global South and shaping the global narrative on climate action. Partnerships are the cornerstone of transformative change, with the private sector playing a pivotal role in translating climate goals into measurable outcomes. Through initiatives like TERI’s Industry Charter, we are demonstrating the power of sustained public-private engagement in developing actionable solutions and advancing the objectives of the Paris Agreement.”

Through this engagement, TERI seeks to amplify the role that strategic partnerships with businesses can play to scale solutions and advance dialogue on innovative climate finance interventions that embrace the diversity of sectors, territories, communities, and initiative takers.
