7th GRIHA Regional Conclav

Bengaluru, June 18, 2025: As cities across India search for sustainable ways to manage rapid urban growth and climate challenges, Bengaluru will host the 7th GRIHA Regional Conclave on Friday, June 20 2025, at Radisson Blu Atria. Organised by the GRIHA Council, the conclave is part of a regional engagement series leading up to the 17th GRIHA Summit to be held in New Delhi on November 3-4, 2025.

Theme: “Innovate to Act for a Climate Resilient World”

Themed “Innovate to Act for a Climate Resilient World”, this one-day event will bring together a vibrant mix of stakeholders, policymakers, architects, engineers, urban planners, product manufacturers, researchers, and sustainability advocates for meaningful conversations around climate-resilient solutions. The conclave will focus on converting climate ambitions into real-world impact, particularly in the context of urban India.

The inaugural address will be given by Shri Dinesh Gundu Rao, Hon’ble Minister for Health & Family Welfare Department, Government of Karnataka. The opening session will feature a special address by Smt Janet Joseph, Lead, Corporate Social Responsibility (Practice), Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India (MBRDI), along with the launch of a GRIHA publication and the JAN GRIHA online tool. Shri KP Rudrappaiah, Managing Director of Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Ltd, will deliver the keynote address. A felicitation ceremony recognizing exemplary contributions to sustainable development will also take place.

The conclave will include three thematic plenary sessions. The first, “Drops of Change: Innovative Solutions to Water Woes”, will explore Bengaluru’s deepening water crisis and the need to integrate traditional practices with modern urban planning and water-sensitive design. The session on “Waste Not, Want Not: Path to Sustainable Waste Management”, will be about the city’s mounting waste challenge which will highlight the potential of decentralized processing, recycling innovations, policy reforms, and citizen involvement. The last session of the day, “Navigating Namma Bengaluru: Steering Towards Sustainable Mobility”, will highlight solutions on tackling congestion, improving public transportation systems, and identifying people-centric solutions for more inclusive and accessible urban mobility. The thematic address for these plenary sessions will be delivered by Smt Snehal R, IAS, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), Zonal Commissioner (East), Shri M N Anucheth, IPS, Joint Commissioner of Police, Traffic and Shri Vishwanath S, Founder & Director, Biome Environmental Solutions Pvt. Ltd.

The day will conclude with the valedictory session featuring a keynote address by Smt Rajeshwari S Basur I/C, Chief Architect, Public Works Department, Government of Karnataka. A Memorandum of Understanding will be signed during the session, which will conclude with valedictory remarks by Shri Rizwan Arshad, Member of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly.

The 7th GRIHA Regional Conclave promises to inspire collaboration, unlock regional insights, and spark practical ideas to shape a greener, more resilient future for Bengaluru and beyond.
