The Maritime INDIA @ Net Zero workshop commenced on January 14–15, 2026, marking a pivotal milestone in India’s maritime decarbonization journey. The inaugural session, opened by a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony, brought together leaders from government, industry, and academia to shape the National Green Shipping Policy (NGSP).
Keynote speaker Mr. RR Rashmi, Distinguished Fellow, TERI, contextualized the energy transition, while Shri Shyam Jagannathan, Director General of Shipping, and Shri Rajesh Sinha, Special Secretary, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, outlined the strategic architecture and urgent necessity of the NGSP in response to evolving global climate regulations.

With the baseline architecture established in Part A, the immediate priority shifts to the development of Phase II. This next phase will focus on a comprehensive implementation plan establishing short-, medium-, and long-term action points for both coastal and foreign-going vessels.
