As a designated Knowledge Partner, The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) participated in the TV9 What India Thinks Today (WITT) Summit 2026 held in New Delhi. The Summit convened a high-level assembly of policymakers, industry captains, and thought leaders to deliberate on India’s development trajectory, focusing on the critical pillars of economic growth, resilience, and sustainability within a shifting global context.
TERI’s engagement was anchored by a leadership panel titled "Energy Conundrum – India’s Way Out." Opening the discussion, Dr. Vibha Dhawan, Director General, TERI, set the stage by highlighting the inherent complexities of India’s transition. She emphasized that as India marches toward its 2047 goal of becoming a developed economy and its 2070 Net-Zero commitment, it must balance three imperatives:
The panel explored the vital interlinkages between energy security, industrial competitiveness, and emissions. During this session, Dr. Dhawan introduced TERI’s LaBL 2.0 campaign, positioning it as a next-generation Decentralized Renewable Energy (DRE) initiative designed to expand clean energy access while fostering productive rural livelihoods.
The Panelists: The discussion featured diverse perspectives from industry leaders, including Dr SSV Ramakumar, Mr KK Sharma, and Mr Sandeep Chandna. The session was chaired by Ambassador Manjeev Puri, with closing remarks delivered by Mr Arupendra Nath Mullick, Associate Director, TERI Council for Business Sustainability (CBS).
The sustainability discourse continued in the session The Green Pivot. Dr. Dhawan underscored the strategic role of biofuels in reducing import dependence and mitigating carbon footprints. She advocated for a circular economy approach—converting "waste into wealth"—to enhance the economic viability of biofuel production while minimizing environmental impact.
TERI’s participation in the WITT Summit 2026 reaffirms its commitment to leading the dialogue at the intersection of energy, environment, and development. The insights gained will continue to inform TERI’s mission of supporting India’s transition toward a resilient, low-carbon future.
