TERI in partnership with NDTV launches the 3-month ESG certification programme
The NDTV–TERI Strategic ESG Certification Programme was successfully launched with Cohort 1 on August 23-24, 2025 at TERI Gram, Gwal Pahari. The 3-month hybrid programme began with a two-day immersive experience, offering participants hands-on exposure to sustainability projects and ESG practices.
ESG represents an integrated approach that drives sustainable growth, responsible investment, and societal well-being. It emphasizes the balance between profitability, environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and governance ethics. In today’s evolving business landscape, ESG has transitioned from a voluntary initiative to a competitive necessity, offering both private enterprises and public sector organizations a clear pathway towards responsible and future-ready growth.
The immersion programme began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, a symbol of knowledge, progress, and the spirit of sustainability. The event was honoured by distinguished leaders, including Dr Vibha Dhawan, Director General, TERI, who warmly welcomed the participants and reflected on TERI’s evolution and the TERI Gram campus, highlighting the links between sustainable agriculture, nutritional security, and the broader ESG framework. Dr Mohammad Rihan, Director General, NISE, underscored the vital role of renewable energy in achieving clean energy security, while Dr M.R. Das, Executive Director, IOCL, shared insights on social and governance practices and environmental stewardship. Mr Gaurav Barjatya, Head of Marketing, NDTV, discussed the media’s role in amplifying sustainability initiatives, and Mr Pankaj Chandra, CEO & Founder, Zenora, emphasized ESG as the new business norm, highlighting how organizations can embed sustainability into core strategies and move from intent to execution.
The session focused on key domains including the evolution of ESG and the climate imperative, the integration of its environmental, social, and governance pillars, stakeholder engagement, diversity and ethics, strategic sustainability communications, biodiversity and long-term business success, and climate risk and scenario planning.
The immersion successfully set the tone for the NDTV–TERI ESG Certification Programme, weaving together perspectives from policy, research, industry, and media. It highlighted that ESG is not merely a compliance tool but a transformative pathway towards sustainable growth, innovation, and societal well-being.
